Cardiac Catheterization Laboratory (Cardiac Cath Lab)

The Cardiac Cath Lab is a highly specialized hospital unit that allows doctors to perform minimally invasive tests and procedures on patients with various heart conditions. This diagnostic area uses the most advanced medical equipment that provides optimal imaging and positioning flexibility and valuable information in the diagnosis and treatment of various cardiovascular diseases. The Cardiac Cath Lab is composed of a team of highly trained and experienced Interventional Cardiologists and Electrophysiologists supported by specialty-skilled Nurses and Radiation Technologists who are dedicated to providing patients with topnotch quality care.

The Unit is equipped with a state-of-the-science image-guided therapy application, with a medical imaging technology which allows reduced radiation dose while maintaining excellent image quality. This also allows the health care team to visualize the heart’s anatomy and instantly identifies changes in every patient during an ongoing procedure to provide the necessary interventions safely and efficiently.

The most performed Interventional Cardiology procedures include Coronary Angiogram which is done to visualize narrowed and blocked coronary arteries; Coronary Angioplasty which is performed to relive up the narrowed and blocked coronary arteries with inflatable balloons and stents; and Cardiac Electrophysiologic Procedures such as Pacemaker and Defibrillator Implantations which are performed for patients with irregular heartbeats and potential fatal arrhythmias.

Moreover, the Cardiac Cath Lab is suitable for non-Cardiac procedures such as Neurovascular procedures like Cerebral Angiogram, a diagnostic imaging of the cerebral arteries; Cerebral Coiling and Embolization for placement of coils in neurovascular aneurisms; and Cerebral Thrombectomy, the removal of blood clots from the arteries in the brain. These procedures are performed by highly competent and experienced Interventional Neurosurgeons.

Peripheral Vascular procedures by skilled and experienced Peripheral Vascular Surgeons are also performed in the Cath Lab. These procedures include Venogram, Venoplasty, Graftogram, Graftoplasty, and Inferior Vena Cava (IVC) Filter Insertions.

Interventional Radiologic procedures such as Selective Internal Radiation Therapy (SIRT) and Trans-arterial Chemoembolization (TACE) are also being performed in the unit by trained and experienced Interventional Radiologists.
